all about mōCa Capomo

The most popular hot beverage in every country around the world should be healthy…and it can be!

WHAT is Capomo?Capomo is the common name for the MAYANUT, which is the seed of superfood that grows on trees that are native to Latin America, Central America, Caribbean Island Countries, as well as a few other locales, and it just happens to taste like coffee when it is prepared in beverage form. Because it is a superfood, it provides energy that is natural and sustained, unlike the energy spikes and crashing lows that traditional coffee and decaf offer.

Capomo is a seed that is healthy, delicious and as a food, can be eaten completely, including its leaves and seeds; it can even be ground to make Capomo bread. And depending on how it is specifically prepared or what is added to it, it can also taste like cinnamon, chocolate, or even a rich tasting mocha-like tea. Capomo seed has numerous health benefits: it is a superfood that anyone can drink, and its wellness highlights include that it is: 100% gluten, dairy, pesticide, nut, allergy, fat and caffeine free; high in potassium, fiber and calcium; contains iron, amino acids, antioxidants, zinc, protein, and vitamins A, B, C and E; it also is a natural Galactagogue which promotes healthy breast milk supply in pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.

WHAT is mōCa?mōCa by The Vegan Nest is our proprietary interpretation of the century’s old Maya Nut beverage that is non-GMO, eco-friendly and our Capomo beverage boasts nuts that are MAYANUT Institute certified. This certification is key because all Maya Seeds are not “created” equally. The MAYANUT institute certification assures our customers that their Capomo is of the purest quality and that it has been handled by indigenous women who source the Maya Nut to create sustainable businesses for themselves, and who are dedicated to the reforestation of the MAYANUT trees in their countries.

WHY mōCa? Drink mōCa by The Vegan Nest because it tastes great and is healthy. It does not have the bitter after-taste of coffee and many coffee substitutes. Everyone can’t or does not want to keep drinking traditional coffee, and decaffeination is a chemical and toxin filled process which still includes caffeine at the outcome. Many experience negative symptoms often, such as nervousness, a racing heart, headaches, artery plaque build up, increased cholesterol, insomnia, heartburn, and excessive urination, after even a single cup or two of traditional coffee. Many others enjoy coffee because of the perceived energy jolt they think they receive, but the energy does not last and is followed by a crash and then numerous other cups of coffee to create the false energy cycle. Capomo reacts with the body positively: the more you drink it, the more natural energy you receive in the body consistently, from its healthy vitamins and nutrients. And for those who just love the taste of coffee yet MUST give up their beloved cup because of poor health, advancing years or pregnancy–and are not happy about it–mōCa is the answer. It can be prepared as a hot or cold beverage! For everyone in all forms of their “coffee struggle”, help in the form of mōCa, has arrived!

HOW do I prepare mōCa? mōCa is best prepared in a French Press or a Coffee Percolator to maintain its natural robust flavor and healthy properties. Or it can also be prepared in an instant form, simply by using a K-cup brewing device, a large tea infuser and steeping it in a mug, or using any standard coffee maker. The recommended ratio is 2-3 tablespoons of mōCa to 8-10 oz. of water. 2 tablespoons of mōCa for a French Press, Percolator or tea infuser; and 3 tablespoons of mōCa for K-cup devices and standard coffee makers.

To brew mōCa in a French Press: Add 2 tablespoons of mōCa to your French Press coffee maker. Bring 8-10 oz. of water to a boil. Pour the water over the mōCa and then place the top on the French Press without pushing down. Let the mōCa steep for 4 minutes and then press down. Add enough soy/almond milk to desired color and taste, much like traditional coffee (2 tablespoons suggested if you don’t prefer a very strong taste and ½ to 1 tablespoon for a stronger taste). Add 1 tablespoon of sweetener (raw coconut nectar or organic grade B maple syrup is our suggested favorite). To brew mōCa in the Percolator: Remove cover inside stem and basket. Fill unit with cold water to desired level. Replace percolator stem assembly and insert coffee basket over stem. Add mōCa to the bottom of the basket. Plug in with 2 prong adapter or grounded outlet. Percolator should begin brewing. Check indicator light to let you know when your mōCa is ready! To brew mōCa in a tea infuser: Add 2 tablespoons of mōCa to your tea infuser. Bring 8-10 oz. of water to a boil. Pour the water into a mug and then place the infuser filled with mōCa in the mug and steep for 4 to 6 minutes, depending on how strong you want it to taste. Then enjoy! To brew mōCa in a standard coffee maker or K-cup device filter: place 3 tablespoons of mōCa instead of coffee in your coffee maker or K-cup filter and prepare mōCa according to your device’s standard instructions. **Enjoy mōCa hot or cold!
